Aufgabe 6 – Reading: Tony's blog (Redwood NP)

The Redwood National Park is home to some of the tallest trees on earth. Redwoods can grow to over 300 feet (nearly 116 metres) high – taller than the Statue of Liberty. We saw a lot of wildlife, like a raccoon and two porcupines, but we didn't see any bears, although more than a hundred black bears live in the park. We built a campfire and made s'mores (two sweet crackers with marshmallows and chocolate). It was an amazing trip because I saw and learned so many new things.

Aufgabe 7 – Reading: The Hoopa & the Klamath dams

The Hoopa are a Native American tribe in northern California. After settlers came, dams were built on their rivers. Because of the dams, water levels went down and thousands of salmon were destroyed. In 2002, this was a disaster for the Hoopa and Yurok. Many years later, after long protests by Native American tribes, four dams on the Klamath River were destroyed. Now the tribes hope the number of salmon will rise again.
